From OCW President...
Greetings everyone! I hope everyone has a had a great and safe spring and all the crops are finally planted and the calving season ended successfully. The Ohio CattleWomen have been extremely busy preparing, planning, and organizing for the summer months.
The CattleWomen are searching for volunteers to work at the state fair store. I can think of no better way to enjoy a steamy hot day at the fair then assisting the CattleWomen in air conditioning. Each shift would consist of one day from 10:00 am to 5:00pm. The CattleWomen will also pay for your admission to the fair for the day you help out. It is crucial we find volunteers so the CattleWomen can continue to fulfill their sponsorships to several organizations, and youth throughout the state each year. If you are unable to work please stop by and shop while you are visiting the State Fair. We have several new and unique items that should appeal to everyone of all ages.
The CattleWomen’s annual quilt raffle will also have the quilt on display at the State Fair. Please help in keeping this tradition going. More than ever Ohio food banks can use all the assistance they are receiving from other organizations. Please donate $1.00 for one ticket or $5.00 for six chances at winning the beautiful hand crafted quilt. Also, if any CattleWomen would like to take the quilt and display at any upcoming events this summer or fall please feel free to do so.
The CattleWomen are searching for Ways and Means chairs. The group has several individuals who are interested in assisting but we need one or two individuals to organize all the talented individuals and ideas of the ways and means committee. If interested please contact me I would greatly appreciate your talent and dedication.
Vice President, Angela Dunson, has once again started working with the county queens. She held a seminar which was a huge success for each of the county beef queens. There were 30 people in attendance which was the biggest turn out to date! Thank you Angela and keep up the great work! If you have a new queen in your county please get their name and contact information to her so they are informed on any upcoming queen activities.
Thank you, for all of the hard work each and everyone of you have done this year! I truly appreciate your dedication to this organization. I look forward to seeing each of you throughout the summer months at fairs. Best of luck with the summer fairs!
If I do not run into your this summer mark the annual Ohio Cattlemen Roundup on your calendar now! The CattleWomen will be having a meeting at the Roundup this year on June 22. There will be a surprise for all who attend!
Have a safe and fun summer!
